Bishop Peter Baldacchino was installed as the Third Bishop of Las Cruces at the Immaculate Heart of Mary on July 23, 2019. On the evening of the 22nd, he celebrated Vespers at the Cathedral.

Effective Sunday, June 6, 2021, Bishop Peter Baldacchino is lifting the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

The Diocese of Las Cruces is pleased to announce 'free' online classes in partnership with the University of Dayton VLCFF (Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation) at VLCFF.UDayton.edu. There are 40 classes to choose from in English or Spanish.

Effective Friday, April 23rd, Bishop Peter Baldacchino has removed the restrictions on Mass attendance and will continue to leave it in the capable hands of the priests in the diocese to celebrate Masses, Funerals, and Weddings at the capacity which they deem prudent while continuing to be aware of their parish realities and the current health precautions set forth by the State and Federal Government.

Beginning on Good Shepherd Sunday, Bishop Baldacchino asks the faithful in our diocese to dedicate attention and prayer to the need of vocations to the diocesan priesthood throughout the month of May, asking the intercession of Mary in addressing this great need in our diocese.
